Earlier this month, Centerville Elementary School celebrated its One Book, One School initiative with a LLAMAZING assembly. With the help of a Hempfield Foundation grant, librarian Heather Lesoine was able to bring Jonathan Stutzman and Heather Fox—the author/illustrator team behind books including Llama Destroys the World and Llama Unleashes the Alpacalypse—to the school to talk about their creative process. The students enjoyed learning about being creators, how books are made, and how to create their own illustrations and stories.
Hempfield Foundation board member Ashlee Hurley had the pleasure of being a special guest at the assembly and also enjoyed hearing what the authors had to share and watching the students draw their own llama alongside Ms. Fox. Perhaps there’s a future illustrator in the group!
