Welcoming Our New Student Representative: Kirryn Quispe-Cochran

The Hempfield Foundation is proud to welcome Kirryn Quispe-Cochran as the newest Student Representative on our Board of Directors! Kirryn, along with senior Mila Wachstein who joined the Hempfield Foundation as a Student Representative in 2024, will represent Hempfield students at Foundation meetings and events.

Kirryn is currently an 11th grader at Hempfield High School, where she’s already made a big impression since moving to Pennsylvania from New York in 2024. Despite being new to the district, Kirryn wasted no time getting involved in a wide range of activities that reflect her enthusiasm for learning, creativity, and service. She’s a member of The Flash newspaper, band, choir, JV girls’ soccer team, and serves as president of the American Sign Language (ASL) Club, which she founded to help other students explore ASL and better understand inclusive communication.

Kirryn’s passion for education extends well beyond the classroom. She’s deeply interested in how the Foundation supports innovative learning through grants that enhance academics, the arts, and extracurricular opportunities for students. “I believe the Foundation’s goal of helping students achieve success through unique educational experiences is incredibly important,” she shared in her application. “I hope to learn from and contribute to that mission as a Student Board Representative.”

Her leadership and commitment to service are evident in her volunteer experiences as well. She participated in a range of volunteer activities before moving to the Hempfield School District. She’s also seeking to volunteer at Garden Spot Village, providing companionship to senior citizens.

In addition to her academic and volunteer pursuits, Kirryn’s interests include photography, writing, acting, music, and sports. She speaks multiple languages—English, French, Spanish, and American Sign Language—and has developed skills in public speaking, conflict resolution, and video editing.

Through her wide-ranging experiences, Kirryn has learned the importance of teamwork, communication, and community involvement—all qualities that make her a valuable addition to the Hempfield Foundation Board.

Please join us in congratulating Kirryn Quispe-Cochran, and welcoming her to the Foundation team. We’re thrilled to have her student voice and perspective as part of our mission to enhance education across the Hempfield School District!
